A rule in New York requiring dentists to issue all prescriptions electronically, which went into effect earlier this year, now has a loophole.
The original regulation, effective from March 27, specified the use of e-prescriptions for both controlled and non-controlled substances.
But the new loophole waives the requirement for dentists who write 25 or fewer scripts annually. Applications for the exemption may be submitted online or mailed to the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement.
