The California Dental Association (CDA) Journal's July issue will feature articles that focus on the human oral microbiome and its various aspects.
Among the articles will be a review of the human oral microbiome and the changes it has undergone over the last 7,000 years and a discussion of the alterations in the subgingival microbiome in periodontal diseases -- which will include the involvement of microbial succession and adaptions in the transition from health to disease and from gingivitis to periodontitis.
The journal will also have an article that reviews the microbiota in caries and the evolution of our understanding of the caries process. The review will also have a description of attempts to culture all members of the oral microbiome. This will include why certain types of bacteria are harder to culture while explaining the remaining uncultivated groups of bacteria.
