A competition in dental office design, sponsored by the American Dental Association and others, has a track record of inspiring innovation across the country.
The 2015 winners in the small practice division, Dr. Brett McRay and Dr. Heather Robbins, began their practice after their 2010 graduation from the University of Texas Dental School.
“At our core, we wanted to have world-class customer service and comprehensive dentistry under one room,” McRay said of their practice, the Dentists at Houston Westchase.
Financing for McRay and Robbins was underwritten by Wells Fargo Practice Finance, a co-sponsor of the competition and lender whose ADA endorsement allows them to provide a rate 0.25 points below market.
Dentists find the competition serves as a wellspring of ideas for their practices.
“As a new dentist, each year I looked forward to seeing the winning entries,” Dr. Robert O’Donnell, an endodontist from Illinois, said. “They gave me a chance to dream and provided some incentive to work a little harder toward being able to design my own practice just the way I wanted it.”
Entries should be received by Aug. 26. Winners will be announced at the ADA’s Denver meeting. Visit www.dodcompetition.org for details.
