Henry Schein has announced that it is currently accepting applications for the second annual Henry Schein Cares Medal.
The award is bestowed upon oral health organizations that show distinction while increasing access to care for the underserved.
Three finalists will be selected by a panel followed by the choosing of a gold, silver and bronze medalists. Each finalist will receive a cash reward. The gold medalist will receive $15,000; the silver medalist will receive $10,000; and the bronze medalist will receive $5,000. All three finalists will also receive $10,000 worth of Henry Schein products.
"For 84 years, our company has been guided by the philosophy of 'doing well by doing good,'" Henry Schein CEO Stanley Bergman said. "Since our founding, our efforts to expand access to care to the underserved have been enhanced by the selfless health care practitioners who so generously give of themselves so that others may have better lives."
The required submission date for all applications is midnight E.S.T. on Oct. 5. Finalists for the award will be announced in January, with the medal being awarded at the 2017 national sales meeting of Henry Schein’s dental division.
